The SCUBA Instructor and Valley Girl

The SCUBA Instructors’ Log Entry:

The Valley Girl paid dearly to dive,

A loaf of bread and can, of tuna-fish.

She’s on the shore, with tightened fins.

I took her hand, and we frolicked by

Out to the drop-off where carp laze.

To dive at 1:04 pm, with air,

For ninety minutes, to explore Lost

Ruins of Shangri-la, not separate from

The Group.  In the event of Emergency,

She’d been instructed to resurface,

If possible, at Shellfish Beach.  We

Took it slow, then dove to the bottom,

Where coral beckoned from an over-hang

Of stone, she collected pretty rock

Specimens before we saw, as it loomed

In the undersea dark, a manmade wall.
