The Squid-girl on Dry Land

Writer's picture: Darkling ThrushesDarkling Thrushes

We’ve had a roller-coaster ride so far,

She’s the kind of girl I just can’t treat well.

I noticed cobwebs in her photograph,

After, she’s a Goth or a ghostly witch.

Some unsounded subterranean monster,

Sir, I’ll have to have her watched closely --

I couldn’t live with myself if I hurt her,

Unless it was with my knife, rolling pins,

A fall, or a hex of my voodoo dolls:

A blight of forever in the starlight.
